The Accident Season

Summary:

The accident season has been part of seventeen-year-old Cara's life for as long as she can remember. Towards the end of October, foreshadowed by the deaths of many relatives before them, Cara's family becomes inexplicably accident-prone. They banish knives to locked drawers, cover sharp table edges with padding, switch off electrical items - but injuries follow wherever they go, and the accident season becomes an ever-growing obsession and fear.

But why are they so cursed? And how can they break free? (Summary and cover courtesy of goodreads.com)

Review:

I really enjoyed this book.  It was addicting, impossible to put down and kept me on my toes throughout it.   This is definitely a book filled with magical realism in the best suspensive / creepy way.  I’m typically a wimp when it comes to scary books so it was refreshing to find one that was just the amount I could handle.

There are some romantic elements, but they’re really side stories to the main events.  Who is Elsie?  Why can’t they find her?  Where does the accident season come from?  I won’t say too much more at the risk of spoilers!  At the end I still had some outstanding questions, but I still think this book was extremely satisfying.  I’d definitely recommend this one to pick up immediately with Halloween around the corner!

Warning: Contains some sexual content and some trigger warnings (message me for more details)

Rating: 5 stars!
