Revelation (The Todor Trilogy #1)

Summary:

In a land where magic was created through the spilling of blood, turmoil is looming. Grief and despair flood the land of Todor, and its creators--the omniscient Deis--consider destroying it altogether. That is, until a single spot of joy attracts their attention: the idyllic village of Aerie. Believing in the hope found there, the Deis give Todor one more chance. They place three infants within this village who are unknowingly tasked with ending Todor’s suffering and saving all creation. (Summary and book cover courtesy of goodreads.com)

Review:

“Revelation” starts out in a way that almost made me think this was going to be a young adult book, but quickly ups the ante to a full adult fantasy.  As Numa, Gemynd and Soman grow up, they are soon challenged with very real conflicts and will have to make decisions that will put all their lives in jeopardy.

Hoitt quickly had me hooked and I blew through this book in just two sittings.  It was refreshing to have a world that is not the default medieval land and had some very unique characteristics.  As a warning, the book ends extremely open-ended.  I’d almost say, don’t start this book without committing to reading at least the first two!

Warning: Contains violence
