Blood Bound (Mercy Thompson #2)

Summary:

Under the rule of science, there are no witch burnings allowed, no water trials or public lynchings. In return, the average law-abiding, solid citizen has little to worry about from the things that go bump in the night. Sometimes I wish I was an average citizen...

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind. (Summary and cover courtesy of goodreads.com)

Review:

In this book I was eager to find out what else is in store for Mercy Thompson.  I really enjoyed coming back to the story to see what was next, but I think I would have liked a little more setup.  The book starts out with a bang throwing you into the new ploy and a little monologue to clue the reader in on what happened since we last left off.  That being said, once we got into the story it certainly was as gripping as the first.  Things were very fast paced and sometimes it would have been nice to have a little breather between the events.

One other complaint I have is the way the romantic entanglements developed.  There were a lot of things that came out of left field that had me scratching my head.   I’m not sure what direction that’s going to go on it has me a little nervous to continue the story.  All that being said, I’m looking forward to the next read and I certainly enjoyed this one!

Warning: Contains repeated violence.

Rating: 4 stars!

Who should read it? Paranormal and romance fans that don't mind some triangles...possibly quadrangles developing.
