Silver Borne (Mercy Thompson #5)

Summary:

Mercy is smart enough to realize that when it comes to the magical fae, the less you know, the better. But you can't always get what you want. When she attempts to return a powerful fae she previously borrowed in an act of desperation, she finds the bookstore locked up and closed down.

It seems the book contains secrets - and the fae will do just about anything to keep it out of the wrong hands. And if that doesn't take enough of Mercy's attention, her friend Samuel is struggling with his wolf side - leaving Mercy to cover for him lest his own father declare Samuel's life forfeit.

All in all, Mercy has had better days. And if she isn't careful, she may not have many more... (Summary and cover courtesy of goodreads.com)

Review:

This book in the series brought me back into being a firm Mercy Thompson fan.  There were a lot of twists and turns, confusion and misdirection to make the book a very fun read.  I loved getting additional insight into Sam’s past, how the fae live and some of the different types.

In this book we also get to see Jesse step it up a bit and become more of a developed character.  I also enjoyed seeing Mercy and Adam’s relationship develop a little more and seeing them as more of “normal people dating” at times.  The book does follow a very similar arc as previous books so if you were getting a little tired of them, I’d take a breather between books.  Otherwise, have at it!

Warning: Contains repeated violence.

Rating: 5 stars!

Who should read it?   Fantasy and paranormal fans – there is enough background and “reminder info” at the beginning of this one that you could probably pick it up without having read the previous books.
