Her Perfect Game
Summary:
Charlie Castle is an expert archer and a fierce warrior—in her favorite video game, anyway. But college life was a program she couldn't quite master. To land a cybertech job without a degree, she's entering a "hackfest" over spring break—where she also hopes to meet the sweet gamer who's been flirting with her online. Instead, she runs into the hot guy who walked away years ago, and can't fight the desire that comes rushing back.
Jonah Best has never gotten over Charlie, whose kisses were always as deliciously creative as her coding. But now that they're face to face again, he doesn't know how to admit that her online admirer is really him—or how to convince her that he's offering her a job for her incredible skills, not her sex appeal. Can Jonah cut through their communication glitches and persuade Charlie that the next level up for them should be forever? (Summary and book cover courtesy of goodreads.com)
Review:
I think “Her Perfect Game” was great as a quick romance read. I LOVED that Charlie was a gamer and that the setting was at conventions. Additionally, some of the story takes place within the game that both Charlie and Jonah play. I enjoyed the non-traditional setup and I think it worked well with the couple’s dynamic.
There are only two small complaints. Since the book is short, you don’t have the chance to get know the characters extremely in depth, however I thought Schroeder still did a decent job. My second comment is about Charlie. Her back story is a bit ambiguous and she comes across as a bit overly insecure at times (i.e. won’t talk to her best friends). I did not read the first book (which I will remedy soon!) so this may likely be due to missing part of the story. Overall, I enjoyed the story and will certainly be reading the other books in the series!

Who should read it? Folks looking for quick non-traditional romance.
